At City Voices, we are committed to ending isolation and loneliness among individuals with serious mental health and substance use challenges. Our programs have been designed to foster an inclusive community of care, safety, and fun. Here’s a glimpse of the various initiatives we offer:

CITY VOICES SOCIAL MEDIA

  • A digital initiative offering mental health, addiction, and healing content.

SPIRITUALITY GROUP

PEER WORKERS UNITED

  • A support group for peer support workers and those interested in the field.

PIP (PEERS IN PERSON)

  • Promotes social connection and outdoor experiences for individuals with mental health and/or addiction challenges.
  • Encourages social interaction and personal growth through a variety of activities.

FRIENDLY VISITORS PROJECT

  • Provides companionship and social interaction to those in long-term care settings.
  • Brightens lives through games and chats, promoting well-being and quality of life.

KRACKING UP: A NIGHT OF MENTAL HEALTH COMEDY

  • Utilizes humor to destigmatize mental health and addiction challenges.
  • Performers share their experiences, connecting with the audience.
  • Promotes community, positive change, and healing through laughter.

THE FRIENDSHIP SQUAD

  • Establishes connections among our peers, fostering friendships that extend through phone calls, text messages, and various communication methods 
  • Strangers evolve into friends, and individuals acquire the ability to enhance their communication and interpersonal skills

CRAZY TALENTED: A VARIETY SHOW

  • Celebrates diverse talents through singing, dancing, comedy, poetry, and more.
  • Empowers emerging artists, promoting artistic expression and self-confidence.

MENDING the MENDERS

  • Supports individuals in recovery from addiction and/or mental health challenges who are pursuing careers in the social work field.
  • A unique space for discussing the challenges of working as social workers while maintaining recovery.
  • Shares experiences and strategies for personal growth and professional demands.

HEALING EXERCISE
Discover the profound benefits of practices such as Yoga, Tai Chi, Reiki, Qigong, meditation, stretching, and breathwork, offered in both indoor and outdoor settings. Our sessions, led by experienced practitioners, provide guidance suitable for all levels of expertise. Additionally, we occasionally feature enthusiastic instructors who may be less experienced but bring their passion and dedication to the practice. Join us as we cultivate inner balance, enhance vitality, and embrace a holistic approach to healing.

ROLEPLAY WORKSHOPS
Designed to cultivate comfort and ultimately boost confidence in various human interactions. Whether it’s engaging in conversations with strangers in public, acing job interviews, forging new friendships, delivering compelling elevator pitches, mastering networking skills, or crafting engaging self-introductions, our workshops cover it all. Discover effective techniques for finding common ground, using humor to break the ice, and unlocking true potential in social interactions. Join us on this journey of personal growth and unlock the art of positive and engaging communication.

SELF-COMPASSION/SELF-LOVE EXERCISES
Embark on a transformative journey of self-compassion and self-love through a series of empowering exercises. Discover the healing power of touch, tapping, and gentle massages, targeting areas of tension and pain in our bodies. Learn to extend kindness to ourselves during the daily mental and emotional challenges we face. Embrace the concept of being our own best friend, as we recognize that no one spends more time with us than we do with ourselves.
